Privacy Policy — Pflegeling

Pflegeling ("the app") helps internationally-trained nurses, care assistants and elder-care workers learn German for visa, departure and recognition pathways. This policy explains exactly what we process. It is the companion to our Terms & Conditions and says the same things in more detail — if the two ever disagree, tell us and we will fix it.

The short version

Your email address is the only personal detail we store. We never ask for your name, date of birth, address, phone number or employer, and you do not need to give a name to use the app.

What we hold

• Your email address. Needed to create the account, sign you back in, and let you recover access. You can sign up with email and a one-time code, with a password, or through Google or Apple. Where Google or Apple volunteer a name or profile picture alongside your email, we clear both from your profile rather than keep them; Apple is asked for your email only.
• Your learning progress: chapters and exercises finished, scores, mock results, streak, saved words. Held on your device and synced to Cloud Firestore under your account id (users/{uid}).
• Your writing and speaking answers. Sent to our evaluation service for grading and returned to you with feedback. Audio recordings are not stored on our servers. Your submissions and the feedback on them are cached on your device so you can reread them offline.
• Your settings: interface language, theme, reminder preference, and which version of the Terms you accepted.

We do not sell your data, do not share it for advertising, and do not build a profile of you beyond what the lessons need.

Who else processes it

• Google Firebase — authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage for course content and audio.
• Google Gemini, reached only through our own Cloud Function, which grades writing and speaking. Your answer and the task are sent; your email is not. Before the first answer is sent, the app asks for your permission and explains this; you can withdraw it any time under Settings → AI grading.

Automated evaluation

Writing and speaking are assessed by an automated language model. Scores, corrections and CEFR estimates are practice guidance produced by software that can be wrong. They are not an official result and do not predict how a real examiner will grade you.

How long we keep it

Progress and cached feedback stay until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting the account removes your email, your Firestore documents and everything cached on the device.

Your rights

In Settings you can, without contacting anyone:

• Export your data as a .zip containing your email, your progress, your submissions and the feedback on them, in readable JSON.
• Delete your account, which erases your email, your Firestore data and your local caches.

Under GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not provide medical advice.
• We are not affiliated with any examination body.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data in a material way, we will ask you to read and accept the updated Terms in the app before you continue.
